The long-anticipated 2020 Skoda Karoq has gone on sale in India today, and the brand new compact SUV has been priced in India at $24.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Karoq arrives in India as a CBU (completely built unit) model and will be provided in only one, top-of-the-line version. A spiritual successor to the Skoda Yeti, the Karoq was present from the global markets for a few years now and was first unveiled in India in the 2020 Vehicle Expo. Back in India, the SUV will largely rival the likes of the Jeep Compass and its counterpart from VW, the Volkswagen T-Roc.
The Skoda Karoq is a Petrol-only SUV and powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter TSI petrol engine that is tuned to make 148bhp with 250 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties handled by a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox as standard. The new Skoda SUV can go from 0-100kmph in 9 seconds, before reaching the top speed of 202kmph. While globally, the Karoq does get 4×4, the India spec model is the FWD (front-wheel drive) version.
The Skoda Karoq constructed on the MQB platform, similar to the Volkswagen T-Roc, and aesthetically, the SUV shares its drawbacks with its bigger sibling, the Skoda Kodiaq. Upfront, the SUV gets the signature butterfly grille, flanked by broad LED headlamps with LED daytime running lamps, LED fog lamps with cornering function along with a sculpted front bumper using a large central air dam. The profile of this SUV includes a set of 16-inch metal wheels, electrically operable ORVMs, and silver roof rails, while the back section includes C-shaped wraparound LED taillamps, beefy bumper the Skoda decoration on the tailgate rather than the logo.
The cabin of this Karoq Looks pretty similar to everything you would expect from a Skoda model. It gets a 5-seater layout, draped in black and beige inside, with matching beige faux leather upholstery. The dashboard features the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment program with SmartLink connectivity, dual-zone climate control, and a multi-purpose steering wheel, together with a digital instrument cluster with a virtual cockpit. The SUV also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
