Automakers Share Quirky Ads Raising Awareness to Encourage Social Distancing

The coronavirus pandemic has brought a standoff to India and the world. For thousands of new cases reported each day, the nationwide lockout has to be observed.

Social distance is the norm today and to ‘drive home’ this point, carmakers took to social media to illustrate this concept with quirky advertisements, clever punchlines, and dramatic petrolhead photos, all of which tell you one thing -Stay Home and Stay Safe!

Automakers Hyundai

Maruti Suzuki, Volkswagen, Hyundai Motors, and Audi have cleverly used their logos to express the social distancing message.

Even though the letters are successfully used by Maruti and Hyundai, Volkswagen split the iconic V and W logo to emphasize social distancing.

Audi has used its iconic logo to speak about social distance, which is possible for the first time to distinguish the four rings from each other.

The post of British carmaker Jaguar was about a promising future with its logo leaping forward. Another British automaker Rolls-Royce delivered a similar message urging all to keep their spirits up during these gloomy times.

Compatriot BMW also joined Volkswagen and Audi, posting some videos on their accounts on social media, asking customers to stay home and flatten the curve. BMW also shared a post with the vintage Isetta small car, asking users to take care of elderly people who are more susceptible to Coronavirus.

American automaker Jeep is known for some clever use of its iconic grid, and the manufacturer’s new post provided some advice on what to do at home during the lockdown. Spanish carmaker Seat shared an adorable social media message. While social distancing is necessary physically, you do need to keep in touch with your loved ones in these times.

 

For Mercedes-Benz, this was the time to recognize the efforts of key service personnel who worked tirelessly around the clock to keep us safe.

Kia Motors has decided to hit the rewind button with its new Carnival TV commercial because an extravagant date can wait. As Italy was one of the worst-hit countries in the Coronavirus pandemic, Ferrari tweeted a picture of its headquarters draped in the Italian tri-color showing the country’s resilience in these difficult times.

 

Moving on to two-wheeler manufacturers, Indian Royal Enfield is known for its touring motorcycles, but the brand has urged customers to stay at home in their style.

TVS Motor Company had a very interesting way to convey its thoughts to the brand’s iconic Red Leaping Horse coming to a standstill in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Yamaha Motor India has taken this opportunity to thank essential service workers, while also conveying social distance by holding hands together.

It’s time for humanity to try, and it’ll take a while before the auto industry returns to being a growth driver for the economy.
