Among India’s premier automotive design homes, DC Layout today is known as DC2, is known for a number of its stunning designs. Time and again, the business has showcased some quite exciting theories, while gliding vanity vans and automobiles continue to remain popular with the elite in India and abroad. Now, DC2 has showcased an all-new notion that brings the iconic Ambassador in a completely new avatar. The electric Ambassador project hits you with a bag full of nostalgia and we caught up with Dilip Chhabria to understand more about this hot-rod concept and one we expect to see on the streets soon.
DC has released images of what the electric Ambassador resembles and the newest version looks like the icon whilst keeping things contemporary. The electric Amby rendering relies on the Hindustan Ambassador. There is lots of standout components like that massive chrome grille upfront with the angular LED projector headlamps, while the squared wheel arches bring a nice look to the model. Do note the curved front fenders that mimic the initial design and the nose-bulge on the bonnet was retained as well that brings a familiar look from the first.
The squared-off wheel arches are flared at the rear and the roofline curves to the boot to get a pleasant and stout appearance. This Amby is not hoping to be sleek in appearance by any means and the streamlined proportions do seem like something which will be valued from the city. In the back, the squared taillights are all LED, while the strong shoulder-line extends from the front door throughout the boot-lid.
The Electric Amby is tall and Dilip Chhabria claims that this allowed the team to plonk the battery pack in the ground, which makes for a lower center of gravity without needing to compromise on distance. The concept variant showcased this is a two-door, but be rest assured, the creation version will be a four-door such as the first.
Mr. Chhabria also tells us that the corporation will be using carbon composite materials in the construction of the electric Amby to maintain the overall weight light without compromising the structural integrity of the product. Performance figures are under wraps, for the time being, but we have been promised 0-100kmph in approximately 4 minutes. That’s nearly supercar land for what the face of India’s powerful was formerly an elite. It was the showstopper in the 2008 Auto Expo and since Mr. Chhabria informs continues to bring in inquiries for the company.
And these will be crucial customers for the new which are looking at bringing back the icon home, albeit in a more future-ready appearance. The electrical Amby is going to probably be ready for trials within the next couple of weeks and it is currently the lockdown that’s kept work kept up. Mr. Chhabria further reveals a Swiss company is working on the electric motors, one per wheel, and the complete project ought to be prepared in the next half of the year.
Little is known about the inside of the electrical Amby but if you’ve seen DC’s job previously, it is possible to expect the very best concerning luxury, fit and finish. Expect to find a selection of customization options that were offered using the DC Avanti too. Interestingly, the electric Amby will take over the Avanti’s assembly line which finishes production and will likely be replaced by the TCA sports car showcased at the Auto Expo 2018. DC2 is working on electrifying more of its models moving forward.
